The AQA A-Level Fine Art course is designed to introduce individuals to a variety of experiences that explore a range of fine art media, processes and techniques to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to facilitate progression onto higher education courses.
The AQA A-Level Fine Art course is designed to introduce individuals to a variety of experiences that explore a range of fine art media, processes and techniques to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to facilitate progression onto higher education courses. Students are required to produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more area(s) of fine art study, such as those listed below. They may explore overlapping areas and combinations of areas: drawing and painting mixed-media, including collage and assemblage sculpture ceramics installation printmaking (relief, intaglio, screen processes and lithography) moving image (video, film, animation) and photography
The four Assessment Objectives (AOs) are to be demonstrated in the context of the content and skills presented. Assessment objectives (AOs) are set by Ofqual and are the same across all A-level Art and Design specifications and all exam boards. The assessments will measure how students have achieved the following assessment objectives: AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress. AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements. The project/assignment brief sets out all of the information needed to undertake the work, including the start and end dates, assessment objectives and evidence of work needed to achieve the AOs.
6 GCSE grades at 5 and above to study 3 A-Levels. To do A-Level Fine Art, a grade 5 in GCSE Art, or a grade 5 in a creative subject, for example photography. If Art GCSE has not been studied individuals will be invited for an interview, where we will need to see a portfolio of their artwork.
