Who We Are (Our Group)

United Colleges Group (UCG) delivers Further Education and training across five campuses through the City of Westminster College and College of North West London, offering provision across almost all vocational areas and at a wide range of levels for learners of all ages.

Working closely with students, communities, government bodies, employers, and partners across London and the UK, UCG supports thousands of learners each year to achieve their goals, whether that means entering employment, progressing to Further or Higher Education, or developing new and existing skills. In 2024/25, 91% of students progressed to positive destinations, including paid employment, apprenticeships, or further and higher education, representing an improvement on the previous year.

UCG’s sector specialisms include Business and Accountancy, Construction, Engineering, Computing and Robotics, Science, Sport, Creative and Digital Industries, and Provision for Learners with High Needs.

The Group maintains strong employer partnerships both in London and nationally, including Crossrail, MetroNet, London Underground, Skanska, Land Securities, United Biscuits, Arup, Atkins, and McLaren, helping ensure courses align closely with industry needs.

UCG was awarded an overall ‘Good’ effectiveness rating by Ofsted following its inspection in December 2024. Inspectors praised the Group’s “extensive curriculum offer which aligns exceptionally well with skills priorities in London” and highlighted how “staff support and encourage learners and apprentices to overcome any barriers to their success, enabling them to actively participate in and enjoy their education.” In 2025, UCG was admitted to the Chartered Institution for Further Education, the only organisation in the UK with royal assent to confer Chartered Status on excellent Further Education providers.

In addition to its two flagship colleges, United Colleges Group also includes The Cockpit, London’s first purpose-built theatre.

“Studying here has been the best experience”
City of Westminster College Logo

“At City of Westminster College, my experience has been the best of all the other colleges I’ve attended. The reason I like CWC is because the teachers make my journey easier with assessment and exams. I’m a Level Two Science student and I enjoy my lessons because most of them are practical, which are helpful for me. I love studying at CWC because you meet people from other countries – all over the world and from all different communities.”

“My experience studying at City of Westminster College has been amazing. It’s been so welcoming; I enjoy it very much because of the staff members we have here. They’re very approachable and I could come to them with any question, and it will be answered straight away. And if I come early for a class, I can use the Learning Resources Centre, I can use the computers, the books, just to continue all my studies outside the classroom time.”

“Getting into security has opened doors for me.”
City of Westminster College Logo

“The training process was seamless. I had good instructors who were very flexible, supporting people of all learning levels. On the last day after our exams, a security company came and did a presentation. We had the opportunity to have an interview afterwards. I told them about my experiences, and they said I would be a good fit. I formally applied for a role and started with the company soon after. Getting into security has opened doors for me. I hope I will continue to take steps up the career ladder.”
