Young Carers
At United Colleges Group, we understand that being a young carer comes with unique responsibilities. If you regularly help care for a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition or substance dependency, you don’t have to balance those responsibilities alone.
We are committed to creating a college where young carers feel recognised, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Through our Young Carers Covenant and dedicated Student Support team, we offer a range of practical, academic, financial and wellbeing support to help you succeed during your time at college.
How we can support you
- Academic support
- Catch-up opportunities where appropriate
- Wellbeing support
- A dedicated Young Carers Champion within the Student Support Team
- Free college gym membership to the Paddington Gym or weekly vouchers for Willesden Sports Centre.
- One complimentary hair cut & blow dry per term at the Colleges Hair and Beauty Salon (subject to availability)
- A monthly food parcel
- Financial support
Young Carers Covenant
United Colleges Group has signed a Young Carers Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to recognising, supporting and empowering young carers throughout their time at college.
If you think you’re a young carer or young adult carer, or you just want to chat about support, contact our Student Support Team at studentadvice@ucg.ac.uk.
