UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Visual Communication
On this course you will learn how to develop visual media campaigns for marketing, branding, content creation and social media. All assessment will be through industry project briefs. Skills developed include graphic design, photography, video production, digital design, visual language and design principles, research, journalism, contextualisation and theory. Learners will work collaboratively with each other to fulfil industry led briefs.
On this course you will learn how to develop visual media campaigns for marketing, branding, content creation and social media. All assessment will be through industry project briefs. Skills developed include graphic design, photography, video production, digital design, visual language and design principles, research, journalism, contextualisation and theory. Learners will work collaboratively with each other to fulfil industry led briefs. This two-year programme, will allow you to explore a range of disciplines including graphic design, photography, illustration and video production processes for content creation. Through hands-on projects, trips and collaborations with London's wider creative communities, you'll learn how to communicate ideas visually, develop your technical abilities and understand the principles that underpin impactful design and media production. The course is structured to encourage experimentation and collaboration. You'll work on real-world industry-led briefs and assignments, gaining experience with industry-standard software and equipment. Specialist workshops and studio sessions will support you in developing both traditional and digital skills. You'll explore Adobe suite, as well as screen-printing, collage, studio lighting, camera skills and video skills. Regular feedback from tutors with industry experience will help you nurture your creativity and refine your individual voice. As part of the curriculum, you'll also learn about the creative industries, the creative process, responding to project briefs, research, visual language, reflective practice and ideas generation. You will learn how to present your projects professionally in preparation for opportunities to showcase your work in exhibitions and digital platforms. In year two, you will be guided in preparing you for progression to higher education or entry-level roles and help you build a professional portfolio for university or employment in the creative industries sectors in areas such as graphic design, photography, video production, digital design and marketing.
The course is assessed by coursework. This will include, but is not limited to: producing portfolio's of creative work' reflective journals, presentations, reports and contribution to team projects.
Four GCSE's at grade 4 or above including a creative subject and ideally English GCSE grade 4 or Functional skills level 2 (however, if you do not meet this criteria we'd encourage you to apply or to come along to enrolment and talk to our team). Alternatively, successful completion of a Level 2 Diploma.
