CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out. The Scheme keeps a database of people working in construction who have achieved, or are committed to achieving a recognised construction related qualification. Most principal contractors and major house builders require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.
In order to apply for the CSCS Card you need to undertake 2 exams. The cost of the exams and one days training if required is outlined below:

This qualification is suitable for construction operatives who need to renew their CSCS Card or individuals who need to acquire a CSCS Card to work in the construction Industry. You will need these two qualifications to apply for a CSCS Card. Please note that it is the individual's responsibility to apply and pay for the CSCS Card - details below.

To apply for a CSCS card: You need to prove you have the relevant training and qualifications and pay £30 for the card. Once you have passed the correct test, call the CSCS Contact Centre on 0344 994 4777.
Before you ring please ensure you have: a credit or debit card to pay £30 for the card your current or previous employer's details including contact name, company name and telephone number checked the requirements for the type of card you are applying for.
For example, you may need to email CITB copies of your qualifications. If you do not have this information when you call, it may delay your application. Your card will usually be dispatched on the next working day.
Alternatively you can download an application form here, complete it and return it with the required documentation and payment. Please note that postal applications can take up to 15 working days.
