United Colleges Group recognised with prestigious accreditation for outstanding ‘people first’ culture

United Colleges Group (UCG) is celebrating after being awarded a ‘We invest in people, Silver accreditation’ by Investors in People – an internationally recognised workplace accreditation for people management and employee wellbeing.

In securing this accreditation, UCG has proven its commitment to actively investing in its employees and supporting their professional development, and shown it is going above and beyond to nurture its staff community. This award reflects UCG’s success in delivering on one of its strategic aims which is to develop a people first culture, that is inclusive, fair and responsive.

Following a detailed assessment, which included surveys, documentation reviews, interviews and visits by an assessor to UCG’s London campuses, UCG was presented with this respected accreditation alongside a detailed final report. In their report, Investors in People praised UCG for nurturing a “compassionate and caring work environment”, its “collaborative and supportive culture” and its “significant investment in supporting professional development.”

Stephen Davis, CEO & Group Principal at United Colleges Group, said:

“Receiving this accreditation from Investors in People is a powerful endorsement of the progress we are making in putting our people first. We know that to deliver the very best education for our students, we must ensure that we are prioritising the development of our staff across United Colleges Group. This strong commitment to our people is deeply embedded within our strategic objectives, and it is something we will continue to drive forward as we build on this accreditation.”

Paul Devoy, CEO at Investors in People, said:

“We’d like to congratulate United Colleges Group. Silver accreditation on We invest in people is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places United Colleges Group in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

This accreditation is the latest in a series of accolades awarded to UCG in celebration of its work in the people space. This includes being named a Disability Confident Leader – the highest tier of the UK Government scheme – and achieving the Investors in Diversity Gold – Leaders in Diversity accreditation by the National Centre for Diversity (NCFD), becoming the only college in London to hold this status. UCG has also been named as one of the NCFD’s Top 100 Inclusive UK Employers for the second year running.

“Studying here has been the best experience”
City of Westminster College Logo

“At City of Westminster College, my experience has been the best of all the other colleges I’ve attended. The reason I like CWC is because the teachers make my journey easier with assessment and exams. I’m a Level Two Science student and I enjoy my lessons because most of them are practical, which are helpful for me. I love studying at CWC because you meet people from other countries – all over the world and from all different communities.”

“Getting into security has opened doors for me.”
City of Westminster College Logo

“The training process was seamless. I had good instructors who were very flexible, supporting people of all learning levels. On the last day after our exams, a security company came and did a presentation. We had the opportunity to have an interview afterwards. I told them about my experiences, and they said I would be a good fit. I formally applied for a role and started with the company soon after. Getting into security has opened doors for me. I hope I will continue to take steps up the career ladder.”
