A cross-college collaboration and a modern twist on Vivaldi
As part of their Final Major Project, Use Your Imagination, our Level 2 Music Performance & Production students have reimagined Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons – Winter (1st Movement) for a contemporary audience.
Working from the original orchestral score, Ryan (electric guitar) and Lucas (bass) took on the roles traditionally played by the cello and viola sections, while Yousef and Ronald recreated the string and harpsichord parts on keyboards. Kajarean added drum kit rhythms and a contemporary beat, and Matthew completed the arrangement with original lyrics and a powerful vocal performance.
The Music students also designed the staging, visuals and lighting for the performance, with support from our staff. Level 2 Media students and their tutors helped capture the performance from multiple angles, enabling us to showcase the project in its full glory.
With just six weeks of rehearsals, the project challenged students to develop their musical skills, creativity and teamwork. The result is a powerful performance that demonstrates our students’ talent, commitment and collaboration.
