The wait is finally over…the results are in…and there were plenty of smiles as City of Westminster students nervously opened their envelopes.
So, was the nail-biting wait worth it? Well judging by the positive vibes from the CWC pupils, the future certainly looks like a bright one.
Mitra Kantharuban was thrilled after gaining a Distinction in his Level 3 Creative Media and said: “A memorable moment for me at CWC would be when I was taught camera editing techniques. These skills are crucial in media production. Having this knowledge will allow me to apply these skills in the media industry”.
So, what’s next for Mitra? “I plan to head to SAE Institute to study Digital Film for two years alongside developing my marketing skills,” he revealed.
Another delighted student was Serena Mullings who received a Distinction in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts. She said: “Over these amazing two years I’ve learned that I am very motivated, and career driven as I was able to juggle college, course work, jobs, training, and social time. One thing about this course, that I will take on for the rest of my life, is to find my independence and to make opportunities myself, which I believe I did.”
Health and Social Care student Ewurafua Ogoe is heading to Nottingham Trent University to study BSc Hons Mental Health Nursing and said: “I had a great time and will miss my teachers; they built a great relationship with us.”
While Alexandra Erly Wernersbach Stein also praised her teachers as she moves on to study a BSc in Psychology at Birkbeck University of London following her Access to Higher Education (Social Sciences) course. Alexandra said: “I’ve had a lot of support from teachers and would recommend City of Westminster College”

Also, university-bound is Abdulai Sesay thanks to his Access to Law pass as he looks forward to a career in the legal profession to read law at London Southbank University, remarking: “I enjoyed the course and was fortunate to meet the best tutors that supported my now confident understanding of the law and look forward to exploring that more at university”

Kyan Coleman is looking forward to starting her BSc in Professional Policing at the University of Law following her Merit pass on the NCFE Level 3 Extended Uniform Services course: “It was great meeting new people,” she said. “And my course teachers were supportive throughout.”

Meanwhile, Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts alumni Chantelle Holness and Rebecca Hannett gained merit grades – Chantelle is set to embark on a career as a sound designer, while Rebecca is excited about studying a BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen with Foundation Year at the University of East London.

Results day was music to the ears of Haydon Knight, who passed with Distinction in his Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production Level 3 (QCF) course. “I enjoyed the facilities I got to use for our course, and my teachers were really helpful,” said Haydon BA as he now gets set to study (Hons) Music Production at the Institution of Contemporary Music Performance.

The feel-good factor of the day carried on as Kate Herakova and Crina Catalina Micnea were thrilled to pass the NFCE CACHE Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma syllabus. Kate is applying for a Phlebotomy NHS Apprenticeship and Crina will make the move to the University of Hertfordshire and study BSc Psychology.

Another happy pair were Gabriela Zasheve and Matheus Hernandez De Moraes, graduating from ICT Level 3 and both students off to enrol on the BSc Computer Science course at Southbank University. Gabriela said: “The teachers were amazing and very supportive, and the course was fun!”

And it was a day to remember for Imad as he celebrated completing his NCFE Level 3 Diploma Extended in Sports Science with Distinction. “City of Westminster College helped me to realise my potential and pushed me to achieve more,” said Imad, who has an interview lined up for an internship.

You get to ask them for advice and actual knowledge from the industry, and take that into your own work within the college also afterwards. ”

The reason I like CWC is because the teachers make my journey easier with assessment and exams. I’m a Level Two Science student and I enjoy my lessons because most of them are practical, which are helpful for me. I love studying at CWC because you meet people from other countries – all over the world and from all different communities.”

They’re very approachable and I could come to them with any question, and it will be answered straight away. And if I come early for a class, I can use the Learning Resources Centre, I can use the computers, the books, just to continue all my studies outside the classroom time.”
“The training process was seamless. I had good instructors who were very flexible, supporting people of all learning levels. On the last day after our exams, a security company came and did a presentation. We had the opportunity to have an interview afterwards. I told them about my experiences, and they said I would be a good fit. I formally applied for a role and started with the company soon after. Getting into security has opened doors for me. I hope I will continue to take steps up the career ladder.”
