Gender inequality and sexism continue to present barriers that prevent women and girls from entering STEM subjects across the world and both College of North West London and our sister college, City of Westminster College are committed to working to change that.
Ending the STEM gender gap is a central priority of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, an initiative that has been created by the United Nations.
As part of its dedication to being an equal, inclusive, and progressive place to work and study, the United Colleges Group is keen to promote women and girls in STEM subjects and is happy to join with the United Nations and everyone celebrating this important day.
International Day of Women and Girls in Science is also an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of women and girls in STEM and to remember the trailblazing pioneers that have made the progress seen in recent years possible.
As the world marks International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the United Colleges Group reiterates is pride in its female STEM students and staff and reconfirms its dedication to getting more women and girls into the STEM subjects.

The reason I like CWC is because the teachers make my journey easier with assessment and exams. I’m a Level Two Science student and I enjoy my lessons because most of them are practical, which are helpful for me. “The training process was seamless. I had good instructors who were very flexible, supporting people of all learning levels. On the last day after our exams, a security company came and did a presentation. We had the opportunity to have an interview afterwards. I told them about my experiences, and they said I would be a good fit. I formally applied for a role and started with the company soon after. Getting into security has opened doors for me. I hope I will continue to take steps up the career ladder.”
