Sport Level 1 Diploma
The Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure is a full-time course designed for learners aged 16-18 who want to begin a career in the sport, fitness and active leisure industry. This course provides a solid foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of sport, helping you develop essential skills, knowledge and confidence to progress into further study or entry-level roles.
Awarding Body:
You will explore a range of topics that introduce you to the sports and fitness sector while developing your practical abilities.

How you will learn: Through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical sessions, including sports activities, group work and individual projects.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- Level 2 Sport or Fitness qualifications
- Further study in related areas such as coaching or health and fitness
- Entry-level roles within the sport and leisure sector
Assessment is carried out through continuous coursework, including:
- Practical project work
- Written assignments
- Presentations and group tasks
- No formal qualifications required OR 0–2 GCSEs (grades 1, 2 or 3) (flexibility may apply)
- Initial assessment in English and maths
- Alternative entry via reference, personal statement, or demonstrated interest may be acceptable
- Build a strong foundation in sport and fitness
- Develop teamwork, communication and confidence
- Gain practical experience through sports activities
- Prepare for progression to Level 2 courses
- Learn in a supportive and active environment
