Performing and Production Arts Level 3 Extended Diploma
The Performing and Production Arts Level 3 Extended Diploma at City of Westminster College is a two-year course designed for students aged 16–18 who are serious about developing a career in acting, dance, musical theatre or the wider performing arts industry. Delivered at our Paddington Green Campus, this course combines advanced practical training with an understanding of the historical and cultural context of performance. You will build high-level performance skills, develop your creative voice and prepare for progression into higher education, drama school or professional work. Progression between years: You must successfully complete the Year 1 Diploma to progress onto the Extended Diploma in Year 2.
Awarding Body:
You will develop a wide range of performance and production skills through practical projects, rehearsals and live performances.

- Performance theory and historical context
You will learn through:
- Practical workshops and rehearsals
- Live performances and showcases

As part of your learning experience, you will also:
- Attend theatre performances and industry events
- Take part in workshops with visiting artists
- Engage in work experience opportunities
The course is part of a wider study programme, including tutorial support and English and maths development where required.
This course prepares you for a wide range of progression opportunities in the performing arts sector.
After completing the course, you can progress to:
- University degrees (BA Hons, Foundation Degrees, HNC/HND)
- Drama schools and dance conservatoires (via audition)
- Apprenticeships in the creative and cultural industries
Career pathways include acting, dance, theatre production, arts management, teaching and other roles within the creative industries.
You will be assessed continuously throughout the course through a combination of practical and written work.

You will also complete approximately 2–5 hours of independent study per week, alongside rehearsals and coursework.
- 4–5 GCSEs (grades 4–5), including English (and maths if required) (flexibility may apply)
- OR Level 2 qualification
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
- Develop advanced skills in acting, dance and musical theatre

On successful completion, you will achieve the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
