Performing and Production Arts Level 2 Diploma
The Performing and Production Arts Level 2 Siploma at City of Westminster College is a one-year course designed for students aged 16–18 who are passionate about acting, dance and singing. Based at our Paddington Green Campus, this course gives you a strong foundation in all three core performing arts disciplines, while also allowing you to begin exploring your preferred specialism. Equivalent to five GCSEs (grades 4–9), this course is ideal if you want to build confidence, develop performance skills and progress to Level 3 study or a future career in the performing arts industry.
Awarding Body:
This course introduces you to a wide range of practical and performance-based skills across the performing arts. You will take part in workshops, rehearsals, performances and creative projects that help you grow as a performer.
Areas of study may include:
- Acting skills and character development
- Dance technique and dance performance
- Singing and musical theatre
- Physical theatre
- Devising plays and creating original work
- Individual performance projects
- Community theatre
- Business in the performing arts
- Contemporary dance
You will learn through a mixture of practical technique classes, workshops, group seminars and lectures. The course also forms part of a wider study programme, including work experience, tutorial support, and English and maths development where needed.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts
- Other Level 3 creative or performance-based courses
This course also helps prepare you for future opportunities in acting, dance, musical theatre and the wider creative industries.
Assessment is continuous and based on both practical and written work throughout the course.
- Practical project work and performance tasks
- Coursework and written assignments
- Presentations and creative project evidence
- Workshop-based assessment and in-class performances
- Public performances where appropriate
You will also be expected to rehearse outside lesson time and complete some coursework at home.
- 2–4 GCSEs (grades 2, 3 or 4) OR Level 1 qualification (flexibility may apply)
- Ideally English or maths at grade 3–4, or willingness to study alongside
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
- Train in acting, dance and musical theatre on one course
- Build confidence through practical workshops and live performance
- Develop creativity, teamwork and communication skills
- Learn from experienced tutors in a supportive environment
- Prepare for progression to Level 3 performing arts training
- Gain valuable experience through rehearsals, projects and showcases
Upon successful completion, you will achieve the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
