Music Performance and Production Level 3 Extended Diploma
The Music Performance and Production Extended Diploma at City of Westminster College is a two-year course designed for aspiring musicians, performers and producers looking to build a career in the music industry. Based at our Paddington Green Campus, this level 3 course gives you a comprehensive understanding of both live performance and music production, helping you develop the technical, creative and professional skills needed for higher education or employment.
Awarding Body:
You will explore a wide range of music disciplines, combining practical performance with studio production and industry knowledge.

- Music performance skills and live performance
- Sound recording techniques (analogue and digital)
- Music sequencing and digital production
- Music theory, composition and songwriting
- Music industry, promotion and marketing
Learning takes place through:
- Practical workshops and rehearsals

The course also includes a wider study programme with work experience, tutorial support, and opportunities to improve English and maths where required.
This course prepares you for progression into higher education, apprenticeships or employment within the music and creative industries.
Progression routes include:
- University degrees in music performance, music production or music business
- Conservatoires or drama schools
- Apprenticeships in the creative and media sector
Career pathways include roles such as musician, music producer, sound engineer and other creative media professions.
You will be assessed continuously throughout the course through a combination of practical and theoretical work.

- Workshop-based and in-class assessments
You will also be expected to complete approximately 6–8 hours of independent study per week.
- 4–5 GCSEs (grades 4–5), including English (and maths if required) (flexibility may apply)
- OR Level 2 qualification
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
