Information Technology Level 3 Extended Diploma
Information Technology Level 3 Diploma is a two-year course for students aged 16-18 who want to build advanced digital, computing and software development skills. Delivered at our Paddington Green Campus, the course is structured across two years. In Year 1, you will complete the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma, building core knowledge and skills in IT. In Year 2, you will progress to the Extended Diploma, where you will specialise further and develop industry-level expertise. On successful completion, the qualification is equivalent to three A Levels and provides UCAS points for university progression. This course combines practical project work with industry-relevant theory, preparing you for higher education, apprenticeships or employment in the fast-growing IT sector.

This course covers a wide range of specialist IT areas, including programming, cybersecurity, app development and digital graphics.

You will learn through a combination of practical projects, theory lessons, independent study, guest speakers and industry-based assignments.
After completing this course, you can progress to university degree programmes in IT, computing or digital technology, Higher National Diplomas (HND) in Computing & Systems Development, or apprenticeships in the IT sector. This course also prepares you for entry-level roles in areas such as software development, cybersecurity, IT support, game development, web development and digital design.
Assessment is mainly coursework-based, supported by some external assessments.

You will also receive support from a personal tutor to help with your academic progress and future career planning.
- 4–5 GCSEs (grades 4–5), including English (and maths if required) (flexibility may apply)

- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
This is a practical course and is divided into units. The first two units are mandatory and then a selection of 13 units. Extended Diplomas are delivered as two one year programmes: Year 1- Subsidiary Diploma ,Year 2- Diploma/Extended Diploma. The Level 3 Extended Diploma can lead to a degree programme at university or to the College's HND programme in Computing & Systems Development. Students can progress from this course directly into employment.
