Information and Creative Technology Level 2 Extended Certificate
The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology is a full-time course for students aged 16-18 who want to develop practical IT skills and a strong understanding of digital technologies. Delivered at our Willesden Campus, this course combines hands-on learning with theory, using modern computer suites equipped with the latest networking infrastructure. You will be supported by industry-experienced tutors to build the skills needed for further study or entry-level roles in the digital sector.
Awarding Body:
This course includes a combination of core and optional units, allowing you to develop a broad understanding of the IT and creative technology sector while exploring specialist areas.
Core units may include:
- The Online World
- Technology Systems
- Digital Portfolio
- Creating Digital Video
- Database Development
- Website Design
Additional units for the Extended Certificate may include:
- Installing and Maintaining Computer Software
- Mobile App Development
You will also develop transferable skills such as problem-solving, research, communication and project work, all of which are highly valued by employers.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Information Technology (equivalent to 3 A Levels)
- Further study in computing, digital media or software development
- Entry-level roles in areas such as IT support, web design or digital content creation
Assessment is through a combination of coursework and exams. You will complete practical assignments, projects and assessments that reflect real-world IT scenarios.
- 2–4 GCSEs (grades 2, 3 or 4) OR Level 1 qualification (flexibility may apply)
- Ideally English or maths at grade 3–4, or willingness to study alongside
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
- Learn in modern IT facilities with industry-standard equipment
- Develop practical digital and technical skills for the workplace
- Gain experience across a range of IT specialisms
- Be taught by experienced, industry-qualified tutors
- Progress onto Level 3 courses or careers in the digital sector
- Access additional learning support and career guidance
