Information and Creative Technology Level 2 Extended Certificate
The Information & Creative Technology Level 2 Extended Certificate is a practical, hands-on course for students aged 16-18 who want to develop digital, computing and IT skills for further study or a career in the tech industry. Delivered at our Paddington Green Campus, this course focuses on real-world digital skills including software development, web design and multimedia production. It is ideal if you enjoy working with technology and want to build a strong foundation in IT.
Awarding Body:
You will study a range of units designed to develop both technical knowledge and practical IT skills.
Units may include:
- Online World (exam)
- Technology Systems (exam)
- Digital Portfolio development
- Creating Digital Graphics
- Mobile Application Development
- Database Development
- Website Development
- Multimedia Products
You will learn through a combination of practical projects, theory lessons, independent study, guest speakers and digital workshops. Units are designed to reflect real industry practices and prepare you for further study or employment.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Information Technology
- Other Level 3 computing or digital courses
Long-term progression routes include higher education (HNC, degree programmes) or careers in areas such as IT support, web development, digital design and software development.
Assessment is a mix of coursework and externally assessed exams.

You will also have the opportunity to improve your English and maths through additional classes if required.
- 2–4 GCSEs (grades 2, 3 or 4) OR Level 1 qualification (flexibility may apply)
- Ideally English or maths at grade 3–4, or willingness to study alongside
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable

This cost of this course is £1,080.00.

- You will study approximately 16 hours per week across 3 days
- Additional independent study is expected outside of lessons
- No specialist equipment is required, but you should bring basic stationery
