ICT Level 1 Introductory Diploma
The ICT Level 1 Introductory Diploma is a practical course designed for students aged 16-18 who want to build essential digital and IT skills. Delivered at our Paddington Green Campus, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of information technology, digital communication and creative computing, while also developing key employability skills such as teamwork, organisation and problem-solving. It is ideal if you are looking to progress into further study in IT or begin exploring careers in the digital and technology sectors.
Awarding Body:
You will develop a broad range of practical and transferable skills through units such as:
- Being organised and developing a personal progression plan
- Working with others and building teamwork skills
- Researching topics and presenting information
- Using digital communication technologies
- Creating spreadsheets to solve problems
- Designing and building a website
- Designing interactive presentations
- Presenting a business idea
- Designing a product
You will also study English and Maths as part of your programme and receive support from a personal tutor to help with your progress and future career planning.
After completing this course, you can progress to:
- BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology
- Further study in computing, digital or creative technology courses
- Entry-level pathways towards careers in IT and digital industries
All units are assessed through coursework. You will complete practical assignments, projects and tasks that demonstrate your skills and understanding.
- No formal qualifications required OR 0–2 GCSEs (grades 1, 2 or 3) (flexibility may apply)
- Initial assessment in English and maths
- Alternative entry via reference, personal statement, or demonstrated interest may be acceptable
- Develop essential digital and IT skills for further study and employment
