The HND Applied Biology includes a number of modules produced by Edexcel. Study of these modules will provide the student with a good conceptual understanding of applied aspects of biology which are designed to prepare students for a career in applied biology fields. This course has been introduced at City of Westminster College to provide a progression route in non-medical / non-health careers. However the qualification is broadly recognised and the fundamental nature of the modules studied mean that this qualification could also be used to enter science-based posts within the health sector.
This is an ideal course for students seeking immediate employment in industry or electing to study a three year degree programme. The course is also suitable for students who have achieved fewer UCAS points than might be required to gain entry onto a BSc programme or for adults without a range of qualifications seeking to return to education after gaining experience in industry. The first year of the HND in Applied Biology may be studied alone to achieve a HNC. A HNC is also an excellent programme for students who may have studied alternative subjects previously but who have now decided to change careers and enter the science field.
