Engineering Level 2 Extended Certificate
Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Engineering is a one-year course for learners aged 16–18 who want to begin a career in the engineering sector. This course provides a strong introduction to engineering principles, design and technology, helping you develop the skills and knowledge needed to progress to Level 3 study, apprenticeships or employment.
Awarding Body:
You will study a range of units that cover both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering.
You will learn through classroom teaching, practical activities, project work and independent study.

After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- BTEC Level 3 qualifications in Engineering
- Engineering apprenticeships

Assessment is a combination of exams and coursework:
- Two externally assessed exams (The Engineered World and Interpreting and Using Engineering Information)
- Written assignments and coursework
- Presentations and project work
- 2–4 GCSEs (grades 2, 3 or 4) including minimum grade 3 in English and grade 4 in Mathemtics
- Initial assessment in English and maths
- An interview may be required, we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
