Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (EAG)
The course follows the Early Learning and Childcare pathway and includes a combination of mandatory and optional units which provide a minimum credit value of 65. All learners will complete 11 core mandatory units which total 27 credits. They will then complete mandatory units from the Childcare pathway which total 22 credits. Further optional units will then be completed to bring the credit value to a minimum of 65. Mandatory units cover topics such as communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, safeguarding, health and safety and first aid.
This qualification is suitable for people already working or volunteering in a childcare setting, as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations. Applicants will either need to have a Level 2 childcare qualification or be able to demonstrate that they have ample experience of working in a childcare setting. They will also need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English at interview. References are taken up for all applicants and you must be able to pass a CRB check. Your work placement will need to be a minimum of 16 hours a week and you will need to be able to attend College for one day a week.
