Bookkeeping Level 2 Certificate
The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping is an ideal starting point for anyone looking to begin or progress within a finance, bookkeeping or accounting career. This part-time course provides a strong foundation in both manual and digital bookkeeping principles, helping you develop practical financial skills that can be applied in the workplace. By completing this qualification, you can progress into roles such as Trainee Bookkeeper, Accounts Clerk or Finance Assistant, or continue onto higher-level AAT qualifications.
Awarding Body:
You will study two core units designed to build your knowledge and confidence in essential bookkeeping skills.
Introduction to Bookkeeping
- Setting up bookkeeping systems
- Processing customer and supplier transactions
- Recording receipts and payments
- Posting transactions into ledger accounts
- Preparing invoices and credit notes
Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
- Using and reconciling control accounts
- Matching bank statements and cash books
- Using journals to correct errors
- Producing trial balances after adjustments
Teaching is delivered through classroom activities, practical exercises and independent study.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:
- AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
- AAT Level 3 Diploma in Bookkeeping
- Further accounting and finance qualifications
- Entry-level roles in finance and bookkeeping
Assessment is completed through:
- Computer-based online examinations
- Unit assessments completed throughout the course
- 2–4 GCSEs (grades 2,3 or 4) including English & Maths
- OR Level 1 qualification in Bookkeeping
- English and maths assessment may be required
- An interview may be required, we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
