Applied Science Level 3 Extended Diploma
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science is a full-time course for learners aged 16–18, designed to provide a comprehensive, career-focused science education. Equivalent to three A Levels, this qualification is highly valued by universities, employers and further education providers. It prepares you for careers in science, healthcare, laboratory work and related industries, or progression to higher education.
Awarding Body:
The course is made up of mandatory and optional units, delivered over two years and equivalent to 180 credits.
You will learn through practical experiments, research activities, discussions, presentations and educational visits, helping you understand how science is applied in real-world careers.

Units 1–4 are studied in Year 1, with Units 5–7 completed in Year 2.

After successfully completing this course, you can progress to:

- Employment in science and laboratory-based roles
Assessment is a mix of coursework and practical evaluation:
- Assignments and written reports
- Practical laboratory assessments
- Research projects and presentations
- Investigative project work
You will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course.
- 4–5 GCSEs (grades 4–5), including English (and maths if required) (flexibility may apply)
- OR Level 2 qualification
- An interview may be required; we’ll be in touch after you apply to invite you to an interview if needed
- Alternative entry via relevant experience may be acceptable
- Equivalent to three A Levels
