Black History Month 2020 at United Colleges Group remembering, recognising and celebrating black history.
#BlackHistoryMonth has grown into a national celebration of Black British achievements, culture, lives, academia, civil rights, arts and significant mile-stones that have helped shape the UK, bring equality and give recognition to these achievements that exemplify the lives of Black British people.
United Colleges Group are proud to celebrate this exceptional month, and will be hosting a range of exciting activities including a BHM spoken word performance, special guest conversations, BHM film screenings, our very own YouTube channel launch and much, much more…so stay tuned to see how you can get to see and participate in these not-to-be-missed BHM events.
Learning at UCG will also embrace BHM and subjects will incorporate relevant and exciting themes into their classes. These will include live design briefs with Afro-Brazilian Performance groups, interactive lessons looking at key black leaders, producing posters for important black scientists, looking at black music’s influence on UK music and so much more.
“BHM is important as it allows us to celebrate and remember the history of a powerful and significant community of our College. Stories are a powerful force in narrative and in BHM we have the chance to remind ourselves of the past and those events that have shaped our City, our country and our world and that should never be forgotten”
United Colleges Group
We urge everyone at United Colleges Group to engage with our Black History Month activities and celebrations where we will be entertained, educated, enriched and take away something of value about our own diverse college community. Going forward, we can learn to not only develop academically and artistically but as one whole community made of many, each with their own unique and important histories and each with important futures to make.
